Hej Xosar!

Trunkfunk flyttar in på sommar-Yaki!

Hi Xosar! How are you?

– Doing good! Just got back from Barcelona, now I am sitting in my studio having a coffee, responding to emails, scouring the internet for new musix, procrastinating from doing laundry, and wishing it wasn't so cold outside so I could go to the beach!

That's what we wish here in Gothenburg every day… Tell us a little bit about yourself! We know that you're an american living in Amsterdam, how is that?

– I am addicted to new experiences and I must get my fix or else i'll go mad from swimming in a sea of sameness and predictability! I love the effect that a fresh new city has on my brain, like a whole new world of inspiration and possibilities will open up. It's been really fun living in the Netherlands, a beautiful place full of wonder and mystery lurking in every corner.

And to the most imoprtant part; tell us about your music! Surf house – is that a good description? – I have a few different music styles, some of my music is referred to as ghosthaus as it evokes more mysterious occult ghostly vibes, but a lot of my recent stuff is more carefree, uplifting, swirling and swaying so yes, surf house is a good description or even tropical house!

We´re looking fowrard to you visiting Yaki-da on friday, but apart from the gig, what is the most important thing to do on our night out?

– Feel the music, feel the vibes, feel the rhythm… dance all night… Sounds like lyrics to a generic 90's rave song, i know. but hey, it's the truth.

There´s a lot of tigers hanging out in your designs, what can we make of that? Is there a story behind that? Or can you maybe make one up? – I once went on a safari in the jungle of bengal to search for some majestic bengal tigers… after many hours of driving around in our jeep we came across a family of tigers stationed there… we had to be really quiet so that they didn't make any crazy moves, and luckily they didn't and I made it home in one piece. The Calling artwork is just a re-enactment of the scene. I dont know why, but I have been obsessed with tigers since I was small. I also own a real tiger. His name is Xosar too, he lives in Tennesse.

Reading about you, I can´t help but thinking that I also a lot of times seem to bee reading about your boyfriend, Legowelt, he´s mentioned a lot. Are you mentioned as much in the articles about him? Or I guess the question really is: isn´t there just a whole lot of men in electronic music?

– Yeah, we are both mentioned in articles about each other because we work a lot together and in some ways our music sounds similar. It's a neurological human tendency to categorize and compare concepts in order to have a greater understanding of them, so it's ok. I dont think it has anything to do with gender. Sure, there are a lot of men in electronic music, but there are also a lot of women nowadays, so I don't think it matters!

Thank you Xosar!
