Hej Pursuit Grooves!

Pursuit Grooveär en lite av en renässansmänniska. Hon gör liksom det mesta. Från dj:ande och liveshower, till mc:ing och videokonst. I helgen kommer amerikanskan till Göteborg för att spela påClandestinooch jag lyckades få tag på henne någonstans mellan en flight och en spelning. Ungefär så.

Introduce yourself to the swedish masses, who is Pursuit Grooves?

– I'm an artist who likes to create for fun and sometimes social commentary.

What will you be bringing to the Gothenburg audience this weekend?

– Some uptempo percussion filled rhythms, some trippy nature graphics and maybe some words of inspiration.

You seem to be doing a little bit of everything, from producing and MCing, to video art. Where do you feel most at home?

– Producing is what I do most but I enjoy them all. When I'm stumped for ideas in one category I hop to the other to keep me busy.

You started producing music as early as age 14, how did you get in to it?

– I attended a performing arts school from a very young age. I did it all, dance, theatre, film etc. But music just made me tick! I just wanted to learn how to make a song from beginning to end and have some sort of finished product. Anytime I saved money or it was my birthday or holiday I got some new little piece of gear.

Your first recordings were released on your own record label, What Rules Records, but the later ones are released on other labels. Why is that?

– It's always nice to find other avenues and audiences to share music.

Are you inspired by the same things when making music, as you are when working with your video art?

– Sometimes. Really it's all inspired by everday life.

Finally… How do you want the swedes to greet you at the Clandestino festival?

– With open ears and legs that are ready to move!
