Hej House of Trees!
Hi Rob and House of Trees! How are you guys doing?
– We´re good, it´s a a day off today for us, so we are taking it super easy.
I heard you're in Portugal, how's it treating you?
– Portugal is amazing, the people we have met here are so kind and fun and they party harder than anyone than we´ve ever met, it´s been non-stop crazy since we got here. It´s frickin hot though and the whole country is literally on fire at the moment.
You're coming to Gothenburg on Wednesday, what should we expect from the gig?
– We are really excited to be playing some shows a little closer to home and Gothenburg is gonna be mega. The vibe is probably going to be quite chilled but our music is fairly dramatic so that should spice things up.
So, why is it really, really important that none of us miss it?
– Firstly, because, even though we are based in Sweden, we don´t play that many gigs here, and… well… we think you´ll like it. And secondly, more importantly because we are going to ride onto the stage on white and golden horses, and there will be a wizzard there…and urmm…a dragon fighting a solar powered robot, and…
Sold! You're playing in a restaurant, what's the ultimate food to eat while listening to your music?
– Mmmm, good question. I would say something rich in taste but refreshing, something that is great value for money and contains a surprise hidden within.
You're doing about a million gigs right now, and looking at your schedule for the summer/autumn is making me a little bit dizzy. How do you feel about it? Are you getting tired of playing live at all?
– The last year has been really busy for us and while I would say it has been very tiring I wouldn´t say that we are tired of it. We have played in something like 17 different countries over the past 12 months and we have driven to all of them by car. You get to see some beautiful things and meet some wonderful people. And although playing the same songs night in night out can be draining, in terms of performing you really get the best education into what works and what doesn´t and where you want to take things next.
You're doing a few dates with Colin Macleod, and then a bunch with Ryan O'Reilly, and I'm sure they're both brilliant traveling partners. But if you got to choose anyone, living or dead, to do a tour with, who'd it be?
– I think Tom Waits would be fun but as we get to pick someone that is dead I guess we should make use of that,… Houdini maybe… Although he might be difficult to pin down. Sorry, bad joke.
Finally… What are your hopes for the last few months of 2013?
– After these next couple of months touring around Scandinavia, mostly Sweden, which we are really looking forward to, we are gonna be in the studio continuing work on the new album, which will be finished by the beginning of the new year, as well as cuddling the cat… of course.
