Hej Detachments!

Hey guys, how are you today?

Hej! Hungover, we met the Pet Shop Boys last night and hung out with Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Thats sounds like a really good time! For those who don't know about Detachments, who are you?

We're a nouveau Cold Wave/Minimal Wave operation based in London led by myself, Bastien Marshal.

How would you describe your music?

Early 80s style, Factory Records-esque, dark synths with production from James Ford of ultra-modern Simian Mobile Disco.

Are you excited about your Gothenburg gig on Saturday?

Yeah man, definitely well up for it. It's a great place, we intend to get drunk – berusad ja? I've been there before though, I used to go out with a Goteborg flicka for 4 years.

Berusad is the correct word yes! I have a feeling that the synth genre isn't as big as it used to be, at least not in Sweden, why do you think that is? Or am I completely wrong?

I think anything goes nowadays, in this post-modern era, everything coexists.

What can we expect from your gig this weekend?

A live trio. Quality danceable live drums, bass guitar, synths, slightly punky edge vocals. The set swells to something darkly trippy about 3/4 the way through. The set is a journey.

And what do you hope that the Swedish audience will bring?

Well, in Stockholm last October we felt a great energy from the crowd, really enthusiastic and on our wavelength. I know that specifically Gothenburg's Romo Night is on our frequency, exactly the right mentality.

Thanks and I will see you on Saturday!

Hej så länge!
