Hej Big Sean!

Hi Sean, how are you doing?

It’s okay, how are you?

I’m all good, thanks. Where are you right now?

I’m in Belgium. It’s actually my first time here.

How would you introduce yourself to the Swedish masses?

I’m a kid from Detroit, I’m a Detroit player for sure. I believe in creating my own vision, my own world. I have an awesome mom, and an awesome family… And I love making music, and growing as an artist.

What are you hopes for Gothenburg?

I just wanna see what it’s like. I wanna walk around, no matter how cold it is. I know that you’ve got a lot of beautiful people over there, so I wanna look at people… And I wanna have good food.

How’s the tour been so far?

It’s awesome. It’s my first time in so many of these places. The shows are a bit more intimate, they’re not too big. They know english everywhere, but not that good. So it’s different.

Have you got any good stories..?

Well, all the shows are going well! But people are crazy. There was this one guy who got a bit too crazy, so we had to kick him out. I threw a shirt in the audience, and he choked a girl to get it. He choked a girl over a shirt.

You’ve obviously got a massive following in America. What’s it like to go to Europe and play smaller venues?

It’s awesome! I’m familiar with it, I play a lot of smaller shows at home too. You have to start somewhere, and build it up.

Apart from size, is there any difference between the american gigs and the European ones?

Nah, not really. But it’s just crazy, coming where I come from and getting to do this, it doesn’t happen. It might be one person in one million, or two million, who gets to do this.

You’ve done collaborations with so many great artists, is there anyone out there that you still dream of working with?

Eminem, for sure. Coming from Detroit, I always really repspected him and looked up to him.

How do you hope to be remembered?

Working on my second album I’ve been wanting to inspire people. If you’re populare and don’t really say anything, it’s a waste. I had this kid coming up to me, crying and saying I was his hero. That really changed my perspective on things. I think I’ve grown a lot.

Can you tell us anything about your next album?

Just finished mixing it, it should definitely be out by early summer! The name of the album is Hall of Fame.

You said that you’ve grown a lot and changed perspective on this album. Will people still recognise you?

It’s still me and it’s authentic, it’s just growth. I still have songs to party and dance to, but I’ve also got songs to cry to. I want people to be able to relate to it. I want them to listen to it on their way to work.

Apart from releasing your album, what’s your plans for 2013?

Just what ever comes my way! I wanna get into movies, and I wanna get into clothes. I make my own clothes for the shows and a lot of people seem to like them. Yeah, I just wanna do what i wanna do.

Sounds like a good life…

I think everyone should live like that. Just do what you wanna do!
