The Paper Kites

Hi there! Tell me a little bit about your selves!
– Hello! Well there is 5 of us and we all live in the suburbs of Melbourne Australia.

If you should explain your music for someone who had never heard it, what would you say?
– The best explanation that I have heard of our music is indie folk inspired guitar pop. We work hard on creating interesting soundscapes and memorable melodies.

Your last album twelvefour is written between the hours och twelve and four in the night. When do you actually sleep then…?
– Well through the writing process, Sam would just stay up writing until 4AM and then sleep until lunch time! It was a tiring process!

And what is your best strategy to stay awake?
– Stay focused and drink coffee!

”We will absolutely not sing any of our songs in Swedish”

What do you do when you don’t play music?
– Most of us are married and we all have various jobs and commitments at home. I have 3 little kids that keep me pretty busy too. I miss them terribly when I am away on tour!

Have you ever been to Sweden and Gothenburg before?
– We have never been to Scandinavia. It is really exciting for us to be visiting for the first time!

What will you do and what will you absolutely not do on the stage in Gothenburg?
– Well, we will definitely play lots of songs on stage. There will be some pretty big loud moments and some very quiet moments. We will absolutely not sing any of our songs in Swedish because we will embarrass our selves if we try!

And what happens in the future?
– Well, we are touring for the next 6 months or so and after that it will be time to start writing again!
